Returning to Church
Even though Oregon has started to open up it is still going to be a long, slow process. Meanwhile, I want to update you on what we are doing to reopen the church.
After meeting with the elders last night, Gary and I have decided to reopen the church Sunday, May 31. That will give us the time we need to make sure we have everything we need in place. Your safety is paramount. Our goal is to follow the Apostle Paul’s example when he says, “Love does no wrong to a neighbor.”
On May 31 you will get a chance to meet our new worship leader, Rob Severance and his wife Valorie. After more than a year of searching, we hired Rob only to shut the church down for covid-19. Rob has a bachelor degree in music, sings and plays the keyboard and trumpet. Valorie also has a great soprano voice and the two of them are looking forward to worshiping with you.
At that time, we will offer two services. One will start at 9:00 and the second one at 10:30. They will be full services including worship music, the sermon and communion. Only 25 total people are allowed in the building at one time, so if you plan to attend one of the services you will need to call Dani and let her know. She will ask which service you want to attend and reserve a spot for you. It is first come, first serve. If the service you want is full, she will let you know and reserve a spot for you in the other service if you so desire.
Masks will be required along with social distancing. At this time we ask that you respect one another’s space and not shake hands or hug one another. Every other pew will be open for seating and if you are not sitting with your family, we ask that you limit seating to two people per pew, with a person at either end. Family members are welcome to sit together. The first pew will be reserved for staff working the service.
We will livestream the service on YouTube. Later Dani will upload it to Facebook. You won’t be able to livestream it on Facebook because we would have to record it on two separate devices in order to livestream it on two different mediums at the same time. For those who have Facebook Dani will provide you with a link that makes it easy for you to go to YouTube for the livestream.
If you feel comfortable joining us, we look forward to seeing you. If not, we respect your decision.
God bless you and keep you safe. We hope to see you again soon when it safe.
Live Streaming Options on Sunday
This Sunday we are excited to open the church for worship services for the first time since the corona virus forced us to shelter in place. Unfortunately, starting out we can only have 25 people in the service at one time, and even though we will have two services both services have already filled up.
Since that means many of you will not be able to join us at the church, we will live stream the 9:00 a.m. service via YouTube. That will allow everyone who wants to watch it to view it from home. It will be shared on Facebook immediately following the service if you prefer to view it in that medium.
The reason we are posting it on YouTube is that everyone can access it from there without needing an account. The link to the YouTube video will be posted on Facebook. Please like us on YouTube and subscribe to our YouTube channel and hit the notification bell. Once we get to 100 subscribers we will receive our own custom URL that will make it easier for us to find and share our videos.
As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding.
Closing our church building last week in an attempt to stop the spread of the coronavirus has created some unforeseen problems. Now that people can no longer gather for Sunday services, several people asked us how they can give to the church.
There are basically three main ways you can give.
First, you can mail your check to the church.
775 W Highland Ave.
Hermiston OR 97838
Second, you can give online through Breeze website or app.
Third, you can give through Texting.
Please feel free to use the method that you are most comfortable with.
Thank you for your willingness to partner with us during these difficult times. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call us. You can reach us at 541-567-3013.
God bless you and keep you safe.
